In October 2001, the Innovations in Aging Services Advisory Council organized within the Department of Aging (Chapter 394, Acts of 2001). The Council was to advise the Secretary of Aging on the annual Innovations in Aging Services Program Plan. The Plan sets forth priorities for funding innovative aging services and the training of personnel who serve the elderly.
The Secretary of Aging chaired the fourteen-member Council (Code 1957, Art. 70B, sec. 36).
Because the Program has not been funded, the Advisory Council last met in 2003.

NUTRITION & COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION

OFFICE ON AGING

PLANNING & EVALUATION DIVISION
In July 1997, merged with Management Division to form Planning and Operations Division.
PLANNING & OPERATIONS DIVISION
In July 2006, restructured as Budget Management and Fiscal Services Division.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT DIVISION
In 1998, the Program Development Division was created. Reporting directly to the Secretary, the Division oversaw new projects and services administered by the Department and identified new funding sources for them.
To enhance aging services, the Division establishd partnerships with public and private agencies. It also created new aging services and products, and helped local agencies on aging identify and obtain grants and other sources of support. Abolished in March 2007.
