In 2007, Maryland manufacturing was led by chemical manufactures ($3.7 billion), food manufactures ($2.2 billion), computer and electronic product manufactures ($1.7 billion), and printing and related support activities ($1 billion).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2007 Economic Census, the highest employment was in the computer and electronic products industry (21,567 jobs), the food manufacturing industry (14,928 jobs), and printing and related activities (14,019 jobs). With total value of shipments in 2007 at $41.5 billion, total annual payroll by Maryland manufacturers was $6.5 billion paid to 127,780 workers.
